Priory Day
Nursery
The Nursery is open Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 6.00pm and closes only for Christmas, bank holidays and for six staff development days. It provides care for up to 50 children, aged three months to five years, and offers a range of sessions, from full day to sessional care. This full-time, flexible care is targeted towards enabling parents to take up employment opportunities, feeling confident that their child is safe and in a caring, stimulating environment.
The Nursery has been designed with separate rooms for babies, toddlers and 3-5 year olds, with connecting spaces to provide appropriate stimulation. Our ethos is based on meeting individual children’s care and early learning needs.
Activities and Education
Children are encouraged to become independent learners through their play. We therefore provide plenty of fun,
stimulating and exciting activities that encourage them to explore and be creative.
We use the Birth to Three Matters Framework and the Foundation Stage Curriculum to support us with our planning within the rooms. All children have a ‘learning story’ to record their developments and achievements during their time at the
Nursery. This is available for parents to see at any time.
Special and Additional Needs
The Nursery is accessible for all children and offers specialist support, advice and equipment for children with a disability or special educational needs. The setting SENCO is able to support Nursery staff with special training and advice, as well as providing specialist toys and equipment and a Sensory Room to help build confidence and control. A qualified Music Therapist visits the Nursery two days a week, with benefits that are truly life changing to those families that see him.
Through the Children’s Centre the Nursery also has links with Speech and Language Therapists, who provide guidance and support for the staff in supporting children’s communication needs.

MAKING WAVES
Exciting music workshops exclusively for
children
at the nursery and their parents.
Making music at an early age helps to
develop
speech, coordination and social
skills - and can improve children’s
early
literacy and numeracy skills.

Our Aims
To offer experiences to children that
enable them to use their innate
curiosity and desire to learn.
To provide an environment that is
stimulating, loving and caring - and
welcoming to all who use it.
To recognise the importance of
working with families, involving
them in their child’s learning.
To give children the autonomy
to develop and learn within a safe
environment.
To offer opportunities with equal
regard to all children and families,
celebrating diversity and individuality
and promoting anti-discriminatory
behaviour to all those attending the Nursery. |
